TakeOFF is the Newcastle and Gateshead project as part of the HEFCE funded Leading Places initiative.
Leading Places is a HEFCE/LGA/Work Foundation pilot intended to encourage local authority and university leaders to work together on a defined problem.
It aims to increase the capability for partnership working between universities and local authorities through action research projects focused around specific local challenges.
The challenge selected for a team bringing together Newcastle and Northumbria universities with Newcastle and Gateshead councils is targeted at the public health issue of healthy eating, and aims to consider how healthy eating projects within local communities that can act as an infrastructure for digital research and engagement with local communities.
